Aphrodite

Introduction

 The god that I'm am  going to talk about is Aphrodite. Her roman name is Venus. Her realm is love and beauty. She is very pretty but sometimes she was not known as the nice god, sometimes she was violent. One of her characteristics is that she is the mother of Cupid. Her girdle would allow her to make anyone fall in love with her.  Last, is that she is pretty.

Opinion

I choose Aphrodite because I love that she is the goddess of love and beauty. Also, because she is very powerful. I choose her because she is so pretty and I wanted to talk about her. She is my favorite my favorite god because she is able to make the world a better place by making people love each other and make people happy with the person that they love. I would respect this god because sometimes she can be a little violent so I would respect her so then nothing bad happens. Also, she is my favorite because she is so pretty and you can always learn from her. Aphrodite's strength is love and beauty.

Down a Dark Hall

Introduction

Have you every read the book  down a dark hall? It is a gothic novel by Lois Duncan Well hear is a summary.  A girl named Kit Gordy has to go to a school called Blackwood Hall while her mom and step-dad Dan go on their honeymoon. She can't help thinking, " This place is evil". Kit settles into a routine , trying to ignore the rumors that the highly exclusive boarding school is haunted. Her classmates Sandy, Ruth, and Lynda begin to show extraordinary and unknown talents. Kit starts to get dreams and hears voices at night. Her letters that she writes to her friends and family are lost that become overshadowed by the creepy ness and magic around them.  When Kit and her friends realize that Blackwood isn't what is claims to be. It could be to late.

Opinion

In my opinion, I loved the book. Gothic/ creepy books because I love to be scared and it always gets me in it. I loved to be scared and when I end each chapter, I always want to read more. I would recommend this to a friend because I want them to like a book and start liking scary movies and things like that. A lot of my friends would like this book. It is really interesting and it wasn't what I thought it was going to be and I want my friends to feel the same way.

Austin & Ally

Introduction

 Austin and Ally is a famous Disney  TV show. There are 4 characters named Austin, Ally, Dez, and Trish. It was first aired on December 2, 2011. It is about a comedy about the unique relationship between a young songwriter, Ally Dawson, and Austin Moon, the overnight internet sensation who gains sudden notoriety after performing one of Ally's songs. Austin and Ally struggle with how to maintain and capitalize on Austin's newfound fame. Austin is more of a rebel type who doesn't follow the rules and is somewhat immature for his age, while Ally is conservative yet self-conscious.

Opinion

In my opinion Austin and Ally is a good children show. I think that because all the characters are so funny and nice. With Austin's confidence, kids will be more confident to speak in public, sing in front of an audience, speak up for them self, and be able to do things with confidence. With Ally having stage fright and then able to sing in front of people is amazing, that will just help kids who are scared of something.  Having Trish makes the show funny because she gets a least 3 jobs a day and she doesn't care about anything. That shows that by not caring about anything you wouldn't have to care what other people say about you. And last but not least is Dez. He is so funny that he mkes so many people laugh. By watching Dez, this shows that people can become comedians and make other people laugh as well.

Introduction

She Silverstrein was  a famous poet and children author. He was born on September 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illnois. He died on May 10,1999 in Key West, Florida. Shel wrote a popular book for little kids and was a big hit called " The Giving Tree''. Shel became a poet and the things that inspierd him was writing about himself and the experiences surronding him. Shel also studied music. He became a cartoonist for Stars & Stripes magazine.

Messy Room

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,

The theme of this poem is that a kid is proud of his room being a mess and someone saw it and thought that the person whos room that is should be ashamed of themself for having such a messy room. This poem stuck out to me because it looked very interesting and since I'm a messy oerson at my house, I wanted to see how messy someone elses room was.:) This poem relates to me because my room is really messy and I get in trouble and my parents say that I shoulod be ashamed of myself just like the kid ha ha. I think that the poet was mad because the poet couldn't belive how bad the kids room is . And said that the boy/girl should be ashamed of themself.

Paragraph 3

There are many different examples in the poem like alliteration, rhyme scheme, repetition. The rhyme scheme is a b c b d e f d e g h I a e j k .  A rhyme scheme is the pattern in the poem for example by using letters like  a and b. By having a rhyme scheme , it makes the poem better because it gives a beat and rhyme to help you as you read the poem and also by having a rhyme scheme, it also makes kids happy and get to rhyme to help them when they are older if they want to write poem.

His first album My World hit in stores in November 2009.  He always had interest in music. His mom gave him a drum set for his birthday at a young age. Justin's first song " One Time" went certified platinum. He had his first concert called Never Say Never and his fans crowded movie theaters to see his movie. In 2011 he began recording his third album called Believe. He made top 100 on ITunes with his songs like Boyfriend, Believe, As Long as you Love Me, Beauty and the Beat, and many more.

One Direction

One Direction is a pop boy band with 5 boys. Their names are Niall, Liam, Harry, Zayn, and Louis. Niall is born on September 13, 1993. Harry was born on February 1, 1994. Zayn was born on January 12, 1993. Liam was born on August 29, 1993. And Louis was born on December 24, 1991.  They have many songs and they were on the ITunes top 100. Some of their popular songs are That's What Makes you Beautiful, One Thing, Live While we Young, Story of My Life, and many more.

Opinion

In my opinion I think that One Direction is better than Justin Bieber in some ways. Justin Bieber takes drugs, that is not a good role model for kids. One Direction is really nice and don't take drugs. Justin Bieber went to jail! That is not a good role model because that just shows that he will make other kids go there cause kids look up to him. No one from One Direction went to jail. I would look up to One Direction before JB. Justin is a good singer but he is not a good role model for kids. His fans will try to be like Justin because they look up to him.

Introduction

Miley Cyrus is a famous singer and actress. She was born November 23, 1992. Miley had a hit TV show called Hannah Montana with her dad Billy Rae Cyrus. Right now she has an album called Bangerz with a few famous songs of hers called Wrecking Ball and Adore You. In Hannah Montana she was a character who lives in California named Miley Stewart. She doesn't reveal her secret that she is Hannah Montana to some of her best friends and fans. Miley Cyrus is 21 years old and was on the VMA's.

Opinion

In my opinion I think that Miley Cyrus is inappropriate. Ever since the VMA's some people haven't liked the way she acted there. For example like the twerking dance and the dance that she did .  Also in her Wrecking Ball video she was naked. Kids and adults looked up to Miley as a role model but now since her VMA performance , people haven't liked the way she changed. I love her songs and I'm not against her , it's just that I think that she should be the old Miley and change to the way she used to be.

Is Technology Messing With Your Brain?

Introduction

Is technology messing with your brain? Well currently people have been debating wither or not technology is messing your brain. I think that technology is not messing with your brain because you can do homework on the internet, you can stay in contact with a friend/relative who lives far away. I think that technology is not messing with your brain because you can do different things on your phone. 

First Paragraph

One reason that it is not messing with your brain is that you can do your homework on the internet. Like what if you have to write a essay for social studies. You can go on your math book to do problems for homework. You can email your teacher if you have questions on the homework. Also, there is a website called Edmodo to do homework and ask other kids what was the homework that they missed. See you can use the internet to do homework and it won't mess with your brain because it will make you smarter and help you with homework so you won't get a bad grade for not doing it. Plus it won't mess with your brain.

Second Paragraph

You stay in contact with a friend/relative that lives far away from you. You can catch up on what they have been doing and if there is anything new that they missed. What if you are living on your own and there is a problem? You would need to call or text someone to give you advice. Yeah kids and adults how Facebook and Instagram, but you can stay in touch with a friend so you don't miss out. Like one of my best friend Julia moved to Florida, but I still text her and go on Instagram to see how she has been.

Have you ever heard of the movie called Camp Rock? Well please read this blog. It is about a music camp gifted for teens,  a popular teen star overhears a girl singing and sets out to find who the talented voice belongs to. What he doesn't know is that the girl is actually a camp kitchen worker with the fear of being heard. Demi Lovato is the main character named Mitchie who is the girl that the popular singer Sane Gray ( Joe Jonas ) is trying to find. There is one mean girl named Tess who's mom is a popstar. Tess thinks that she is the best and she can get away with anything.

Opinion

In my opinion my favorite character is Mitchie. She my favorite because she is herself and doesn't try to be someone else and she isn't mean. She isn't a mean girl like Tess who is mean to her. My least favorite character is Tess. I don't like her because she is mean. She gets away with everything and blames other people for doing it but it was her. Just because her mom is a popstar, it doesn't mean that she can be perfect and be mean.She is so me that you just can't take it anymore. Tess has two friends but they get mad at her and don't want to be her friend because she is so mean and they can't take it anymore.

Intoduction

Have you ever heard of the movie High School Musical? If not, I hope you enjoy this blog. It is about a group of students in high school who hang out and do theater together. Their names are Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Taylor, Chad, and Ryan. They do everything together. Sharpay can be a little mean and the popular girl. Troy is the captain of the basketball. Chad is Troy's best friend and is on the basketball team. Gabriella is a smart girl who likes science and math. Taylor is a smart girl who does a lot of the school activity and runs a lot of programs. And last but not least is Ryan and he is Sharpay's brother.

Opinion

In my opinion my favorite character is Gabriella. I like Gabriella because she is nice and not a mean girl. She cares about people and helps out. Gabby is a smart girl and will help people when they need help. She is a really good friend. Gabby expresses herself and is different. She doesn't try to be a mean girl, she is a nice girl. She dates Troy and she is honest with him. In my opinion I dont like Sharpay. I don't like her cause she is mean and tries to take Troy away from Gabby. She thinks she is all that but she is not.Sharpay always says that she has so much money to rub it in people's face but it's rude and I wouldn't want to friends with a girl like her.

Who doesn't like Michael Jackson? Well you are going to learn about him. His full name is Michael Joesph Jackson. He was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. Michael was the lead singer in a band with 5 of his brothers call the Jackson 5. Also, he was in a band called the Jacksons. He was 5 years old when he was in those bands. His parents taught him how to sing. He has 4 sisters and 6 brothers.

Michael Jackson has 3 children. Two sons and a daughter. Their names are Price Jackson,  Michael Jackson, and Paris Jackson. His wife's name is Lisa Marie Presley. In December 2007 Michael had surgery on his face. He died on June 25, 2009, I was really upset. He had 11 albums when he was in the Jackson 5, 6 albums when he was in a band with his family called the Jackson's. Michael had 11 solo albums. His last one was This is it, and his first one was Off the Wall. Michael's nickname is " King of Pop" or MJ. He has a Hollywood star. His last album was in 2009 called This is it.

In my opinion I think that it means to be happy and be who you are cause it doesn't matter what other people think. Also, in my opinion I also think that it means that everybody is different and don't be someone else that you're not. In my opinion I think that it means that to be happy who you are if you have a different race/color or language. Also, you can be proud of yourself if you are different because not everybody is the same. Last another one is " My mother's wonderful. To me she's perfection."  To me that means that you should love your mother and appreciate her because she does things for you and takes care of you.

Have you ever heard of the famous gymnast Gabby Douglas? Well if you haven't I will be talking about her. Her name is Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas. Most people call her Gabby Douglas. She was born December 31, 1995. Gabby was the first African American gymnast in the Olympic history. She was in the 2012 Summer Olympics. She won gold medals in both individuals all around and team competitions.  Her nickname is Flying Squirrel. Gabby is 18 years old. She lives in Los Angeles, California. Gabby is 4 feet and 11 inches. Her parents names are Timothy and Natalie Douglas. She has 3 siblings.

Opinion

In my opinion I think that Gabby is an amazing gymnast. She has won gold medals all around and team competitions. She is lucky to be able to be in the Olympics at a young age and get a medal. Hard work pays off.  She has worked so hard to try to get a gold medal in the olympics and she did. Gabby does amazing flips that I can't even do and she does them amazingly and lands perfect. Her coach also helped her too for teaching her and getting her to be in the olympics. In my opinion she does amazing moves and works hard so much because she got to be in the olympics.

Full House!!

Introduction

Full House was a famous TV show from 1987 to 1995. It took base in San Francisco, California. It was about a father who raises his 3 daughters after his wife Pam dies from a car accident. The father's name is Danny . His daughters names are DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. Danny's best friend who is name Joey helps him out with the girls and lives there. And his brother-in-law Jessie helps him out with the girls and lives there too. Jessie marries a girl named Rebecca who works with  Danny on Wake Up San Francisco.  They have twins named Alex and Nikki.  And DJ's best friend Kimmy Gibbler lives right next to their house.

Opinion

In my opinion my favorite character is Joey because he is funny and I love the voices he does like Mr. Woodchuck, Yogi Bear, and many more. Whats also funny is the things that he does is sometimes acts stupid. Also I love his room and the pjs he wears and his slippers. I also like Uncle Jessie because he is funny. Sometimes he thinks he knows everything but it's funny when it doesn't turn out the right way or he is funny and something happens. Last, I think Danny is a lucky because he has a big family that he lives with who help him out and that is what a family does. A family always helps each other and gives good advice.

Introduction

The topic that I'm going to talk about in my blog is dance. Dance is and art that generally uses movement in the body, often rhythmic and to music.  It is performed in many countries like France, Russia and many more. Most of the words in dancing is french. There are many types of dancing like tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, lyrical, etc. In dance it lets you express your feelings. There are also, dances in different cultures.

Opinion

I love dance. I do dance and I can't do anything but dance. In my opinion I hate when people say dance is not a sport or it's a performing art. Yeah it may be a performing art but it's also a sport because you are exercising and they have competitions. Also I love to dance because you get to express your feelings no matter if your happy or sad. My favorite type of dance is hip-hop and lyrical. I like hip-hop because it's fun to do and you get to act all cool if you are doing hip-hop and that is cool. I like lyrical because you can express yourself with sad music and I love doing that.

Boston Bombing

Introduction

   On April 15,2013 there was a terrible tragedy in the United States. The two powerful bombs were near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Killed 3 people but over 100 people injured. It was transformed from cheers and sweaty triumph to people screaming and people being injured. The bomb was placed in a garbage can and exploded at 2:50 p.m. Thirteen second later another bomb exploded several feet away. When people heard the bomb they started to run as fast as they can. The bomb was on a Monday and it also killed an eight year old. The president Barack Obama wanted to find out who did it. Many people were in the hospital.  The F.B.I. took role in the investigation on Monday night. Almost three-quarters of the 23,000 runners past the finish line.

Opinion

In my opinion the Boston Bombing was a tragedy because it killed people and injured many people. People were so happy and then the bomb happened and made everybody upset and got many families worrying about there family member who could die from the bomb. To me I would never want to be in the marathon because if I was a mother, I hate to see my kid die or get injured. The people who put the bomb in garbage are stupid because who would do that, people will be killed. If they are trying to get their anger if they are mad, that's not a good idea to put a bomb in a garbage because you shouldn't kill other people just keep to yourself. The person/people killed and injured people. Also, whoever did that should not be proud if themselves because they just hurt many people and killed people like and 8 year old.

2013!!

Paragraph 1

  One new event that I will remember most from this this year is the Boston bombing. Some many people died at young ages. Their family members are so upset and always remember that day. It happened on April 18,2013. In my opinion the Boston bomb was so upsetting. It was upsetting because many people died. Families lost a family member that they loved so much. They will never see them again but they will always have them in their heart. People who did the bombing are insane because it killed so many people and they shouldn't of done in the first place, then they would still be alive. Also, bombing is such a bad thing because you are doing something bad to people, their families, and the world. It sad to see your kid die from somebody doing that. 

Paragraph 2

One pop culture moment that was most memorable in 2013 was the song What Does the Fox Say? There were some many viewers saw it on the first day because they thought it was  funny and entertaining. It was so funny because of the video. So many people laugh from watching the fox costume and the sounds that the fox could make. The way the video was set up was funny. It was entertaining because  the lyrics were fun to say. The dance was also entertaining because it was funny and the moves were too. People may have made fun of it but they do that because they enjoy it.  To me I like the song and video because it is funny and if you like the song, you will know the words. It like the video because it is funny. The way it was set up was funny and the characters and costumes were funny also the sounds.

Paragraph 3

Something that was memorable in my personal life this year was  when I was in 5th grade and when I was safety patrol. 2013 taught me because I had to be responsible and show the kids that I'm able to take care of them and the school. I was the older kid in the school for the little kids and show them that I'm responsible. I also wanted them to look up to me so they can do the same when they are older.  I loved being safety patrol because I love being with kids and I love taking care of them and making sure that they don't get hurt. 5th grade was my favorite year in school because I had fun  doing all of  those things.

Some things that I'm looking forward to in 2014 is new technology. I hope they have new things that the world can use to make things so much easier. Also, I hope our world gets cleaner because so many people litter and there are so many bad things in the water and I hope it gets cleaner so animals don't die and our Earth to get worse. Last, I hope that there are new inventions. New things will help a lot and I hope that things could change in the world.

   I'm am going to talk about the Super Bowl. NFL teams compete throughout the fall for the honor of being  one of the  two teams who get to play in the biggest game of the the year, the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is not considered an unoffical holiday in the U.S.  People eat more food on the Super Bowl than Thanksgiving. It has been the most watched American television broadcast of the year. The first Super Bowl was played on January 15, 1967. Super Bowl XLV played in 2011 and became the most-watched in history. Average of 111 million viewers. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won 6 Super Bowls the most a team has ever won. The Green Bay Packers won the first 2 Super Bowls. In the Super Bowl there are only 2 teams playing and no other team.

Opinion

In my opinion I think that Super Bowls are important. Families come together and watch their favorite team play if thy are in the Super Bowl. To me I think that people who love football think that the Super Bowl is a holiday because it is s special to them. It is also important for the players because they have made it so far for the Super Bowl for working hard and even if they lose they still did their best. The players who love football should be proud of themselves by making it to the Super Bowl. If you win then you get a trophy which is so  important because you and your team knows that you and themselves have worked hard to get that trophy and hard work pays off. Just like the Pittsburgh Steelers won 6 Super Bowls.

Candy Canes!!!

       Introduction

         When you think of red and white during Christmas time???? Candy canes!!! I will be talking about candy canes and their history.They didn't always have stripes and weren't shaped like canes. In the mid-1600s they weren't called candy canes they were these things called candy sticks that were white. Candy makers made them by hand. The ingredients to candy sticks had to be mixed, heated, pulled, cut, and twisted.  Sometimes they were hard to find because it took a long time to make them. The first candy stick was made in 1670. A lot of people use candy canes to hang on their tree. Candy canes started to have stripes in the 1900s. People also use candy canes to decorate their trees. Normally the colors of candy canes were red, white, and green, the Christmas colors.

 I think that candy canes are important because the colors show Christmas spirit. Kids love to eat them. Yeah you might get cavities from them but they show different things about Christmas that I'm going to talk about. If you make the candy cane upside down it is a J for Jesus. Also, his birthday is on Christmas. The colors are also the colors that Santa wears on Christmas. The red and white stand for Christ's blood and purity.The three red stripes symbolized the Holy Trinity. Also, kids love candy canes and Christmas so why can't they enjoy that time once a year.? Europeans used them to decorate their Yule tree. The hook shape mad it easier to hang on the branches. Last, is that candy canes show different ways that they are important and i hope you feel the same way.

Black Friday!!!

Introduction

Do you know what the busiest time of year is......Black Friday!!!!I choose this topic because I love shopping and to me it is the best time of the year.People wake up early and go to the mall and stores.Lots of people at stores buying things with lots of bags on their wrist.It is not an official holiday , but millions of employers  give their employees off.Since 2005 it has been the busiest day of the year.Bus drivers and police used Black Friday to describe the heavy traffic that would clog city streets the  day after Thanksgiving. This relates to Thanksgiving  because it is the day after it and people get crazy, malls are filled, no more parking lots,Sales at stores, and many more. A similar day in Canada and Great Britain called " Boxing Day".Historians believed  the name started in Philadelphia in the 1960s.To lure shoppers retailers open there doors at 4 A.M.

Opinion

   In my opinion Black Friday important because it is the busiest time of the year.In the article from Wonderopolis.org it said that " many stores are operating at a profit." This shows that it is important to stores  because they are making so much money which will help their stores stay longer and not close down. Also, I think it is important because stores are making money. It will help their business every year just because of Black Friday. In my opinion I think that Black Friday is Important because that is the time of year when everybody gets presents for their family.To me I think it's fun because it is my favorite time of year. To retailers it's important because it will help there business. To retailers they want to get profits to make more people go to their stores and keep it longer at mall etc.

Braces are Important

Introduction

The topic I am going to talk about is braces.This was interesting to me because I have braces now and I wanted to learn on some things about them.After viewing a video on wonderopolis.org I learned that you can get braces that are clear.In my opinion getting clear braces are easier because if you do not want braces and you need them, you can just get the clear ones and then you won't notice that you have them.According to the article I learned that the metal wires put steady pressure on your teeth to move slowly over time. In my opinion that is important to know that because then you will know how the braces work and so that you not be so worried when you get them thinking that they are the most painful thing in the world and that braces are not a bad thing.As you can see that braces are not that bad as you or a friend think they are.Also, you might need a retainer after you get your braces off.A retainer is a hard plastic mouth guard to make sure that your teeth don't go back in it's original places.  It is important because if you do not put a retainer on then you would just have braces for no reason and you want to keep your teeth looking neat.

Opinion

In my opinion I think that getting braces is a good thing. I think that because in the video I watched it said it will make your teeth nice and neat. Also, in the article it said that you can make a fashion statement with all those crazy colors. This shows that people may think that getting braces might be cool or that people make like your style and that it could be fun having braces.Another thing is you will have a nice smile in pictures and when you are happy. Personally I like having braces because it will help my teeth, smile, and make them look neat.Also, I love getting the colors because you can be unique on the colors that you get. The braces that I have now have already helped my teeth and if you get it at  young age then you will get them off at an early age too. To me I thought braces would hurt when you get them on but it does not hurt at all I promise.Braces will make it ten times easier for your teeth and you. When you are older and your braces are off and you love your teeth, your going to be like wow I'm happy that I got braces and it was worth it.
